How long I’ve waited for the heaven in your hello — how every time you open your mouth to speak, I feel the gloomy sky in my heart dissipate. How the sweet tune of your voice feeds wine to the love drunk dragonflies in my stomach, reviving them and making them stumble about so very clumsily. Your laughter cures my earaches, the glistening shine of your teeth makes the sun jealous and insecure because whenever people witness it, it becomes their reason to live, their reason to wake up every morning.

I will rarely ever wake up next to you, not because I’ve abandoned you, but because I’ll be busy in the kitchen, making sure you do not leave our home hungry — every craving will be satisfied, from the ones in your stomach to the one on your lips to the one hidden away in forbidden crevices. I will make sure that you leave our home feeling more complete than the day before.

My heart beats to the syllables of your name.

Always remember where you came from — remember the women who brought you down from the heavens to grace the world around you. Create a garden of love where ever you go — leave your scent available for all the little girls around to smell so whenever they find themselves on the verge of becoming a woman, they remember the image of you in high heels walking on clouds of confidence and beauty.

I want to read your body like a book for my favorite poetry. I want your skin to stimulate my senses like an eloquent metaphor. I want you to whisper in the most delicate of frequencies, speak to me in a tone only loud enough for my spine to hear. Run your finger tips through the pores on my back like and interpret me braille — make my body yours until we become a Shakespearean soliloquy and let’s make love as if our families hated each other — as if we are destined to die in a couple of acts.
VI.
Nights will be my least favorite time of the day. I hate that our days have to end and we must drift off to sleep. I much rather be awake because my dreams have become second to my reality with you.

I wish I could put your love in a jar and send it all over the world wherever this is crisis and chaos so they can open it and be drowned with harmony and joy and reminded of why we were put here in the first place.

You remind me of my Mother. The woman who plucked me off of God’s tree and volunteered to raise me. I see her smile in your laugh, her grace in your step, her love in your embrace. The kiss my Mother gave me at birth knocked the wind out of me and I haven’t been able to breathe right since then, and it is you who replenishes the air to allow me to take complete breaths.

Whenever we kiss, I swear I can taste the rest of my life. The taste enters my lips and pulls them upwards into a smile like a marionette. From there, the taste takes form of a cell and travels down into my core, stirs up all kinds of commotion and then it shoots into my lungs and reminds me to breathe. I then inhale all of your worth into and myself and my mind levitates into space and my intellect and imagination form this universe called heaven where you and I are destined to reside.
X.
I will love you far beyond the days on a calendar. I will love you when it hurts the most and when are overwhelmed by the waves of misfortune we encounter. I look forward to every brand new day with you. Love me as if it’s the only thing you’ve ever done correctly, and I’ll love you as if it’s the only thing I was made for.
